Welcome
Welcome to The Vegan Advocate!
Welcome to the Vegan Advocate and thanks for stopping by.
The Vegan Advocate argues the case for veganism and shows – case-by-case – why becoming a vegan is the most important thing anyone can do for their health, for animals and for the environment. Contrary to popular belief, veganism is not a diet; it is a value system, an ethic, a belief that we should not cause unnecessary harm and suffering to non-human animals.
If you agree that it is morally wrong to knowingly cause unnecessary harm and suffering, then you share the vegan ethic. Unfortunately, many of us have been conditioned and, in some instances, lied to and deceived into acting without conscious thought.
When the Chinese hang dogs and barbeque them we are outraged, yet we are unmoved by the site of piglets (a species which is known to be far more intelligent than dogs) being castrated without anaesthesia, kept tethered to stalls on concrete floors, unable to even turn around, for their entire lives before shoving them into gas chambers (standard slaughter practice in the UK).
In terms of the environment, why are we so moved by plastic straws and plastic bottles that litter the oceans and yet we are happy to support the fishing industry which is the main cause of plastic pollution of the oceans. Fishing nets (known as ‘ghost’ nets have been found to account for up to 86% of the plastic in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch! If we sincerely want to end the plastification of the seas, we must stop eating fish!
And why are we so moved by, and ready to hand over our hard-earned cash to self-serving medical charities that claim to be researching for solutions to chronic health problems like Coronary Heart Disease (CHD), Cancer, Diabetes and others when there is a mountain of evidence proving that we can prevent and treat these diseases for nothing simply by changing to a wholefood, plant-based diet?
The Vegan Advocate examines these irrational and immoral dichotomies and, presenting the evidence as well as highlighting the propaganda from animal agriculture, uncovers some very insidious networks of organisations trying to misinform and confuse the public.
There is little doubt that veganism has become the most important issue of our times. This is because veganism is no longer about putting an end to animal cruelty, it is a plea for the very survival of our planet.
If we don’t as a society start to rethink our relationship and behaviours towards animals, we are all going to face a very worrisome future. Animal agriculture is the number one cause of chronic degenerative diseases (including cancers, heart disease and diabetes), it profits from the ongoing holocaust of over 80 billion sentient creatures every year, and it is the single biggest threat to the environment. What we decide to put on our plates today will determine the world we leave to future generations.
The choice is stark but simple – if you against unnecessary harm and suffering, and if you want to help ensure a future for your children and grandchildren, then you already have the vegan ethos. All you need is the information to counter the propaganda from those organisations that need you to keep you misinformed and confused.
